The creation of the Lipps, or the Chippstons... however you want to say it.

Updates

  • We have reserved Colman Pool in West Seattle on Friday evening for an all-wedding pool party so everyone can meet before the ceremony. It is an outdoor, salt water pool on a peninsula in an awesome park. There is a slide, there is a view, there are comfy poolside lounge chairs--something for everybody!
  • Things to bring for the weekend: swimsuit, an umbrella or weather appropriate layers for the outdoor ceremony, your camera so that we can all share photos and you can participate in the Seattle scavenger hunt between the ceremony and reception.
  • Note that if you are going to stay in a hotel, you have to book the Marqueen or Inn at Queen Anne by June 10th to get the group rate. We heard that it can be cheaper to book online, so be sure to check that out.
  • If you would be willing to drive others down to Kubota Gardens and/or to LUC, OR if you need a ride to the sites, make a comment here with your name and we can hook people up. It's the Carrie +Nate wedding rideshare program.

Accommodations

For the convenience of our out-of-town visitors, rooms have been reserved at the MarQueen Hotel and the Inn at Queen Anne. They are both in an awesome location a mere 10 minute drive from the reception site. The Seattle Center, grocery stores, several restaurants, bars and other stores are all within a few walkable blocks and a free shuttle can whisk you to various downtown locations.

Mention the Chipps/Liston Wedding to get the rates below. Note that the party discount will expire by June 15th, and the better rooms will be gone way before that, so make your reservations as soon as possible!

This structure's origins are unknown. Some believe it to have been an escape pod built by aliens who lived here over 50 years ago. They believe the builders lived here. Whatever it is, you can marvel at it along with other amazing Seattle attractions in the Seattle Center!

_____________________________
The MarQueen Hotel is billed as a luxury hotel. They have large rooms with a sitting area and a kitchen. If you want to fit more people into a room or walk into a more impressive lobby, this will be the hotel for you. Most double queen rooms also feature a twin hide-a-bed, but make sure you ask for it! 1-888-445-3076

  • Single King $160, Double Queen $175.
  • Since they have less than 70 rooms, the tax is 8% instead of 15%!
a few blocks away...
The Inn at Queen Anne caters to the discerning budget minded couple. The rooms are significantly smaller in size, but still have kitchens and, unlike the MarQueen, the Inn offers a continental breakfast. Not all of the rooms have AC, so request it if you can, but also know that it is a shady, short, brick building with windows, so it is unlikely to get uncomfortably hot. (206) 282-7357

  • Single Queen $109
  • Double Twin or Queen/Twin combo $119
** Due to the old-world charm of these hotels, there are no elevators. If you don't want to walk up flights of stairs, be sure to ask for a room on the bottom floor.

If you would like a hotel closer to the reception site, the University District is a good option that also has everything you need within walking distance. Check out the
Watertown Hotel or the University Inn. Current rates are around $160, and they don't offer discounts to group reservations.

Seattle weather at the end of July is vastly superior to that weather in many other parts of the country, not to mention superior to Seattle weather the rest of the year. Wherever you stay, book early!
